Heck, I've even forced myself - this has been a major achievement - to more or less figure out why some people seek to 'improve' their appearance by way of submitting to tattooing. But I've hit a personal stone wall in understanding how so many people, many highly educated, fail to understand the mathematics and physics around electricity generation. And how, seemingly forever, these same people cannot avoid associating the word nuclear power with those tragic images of Hiroshima. The nearest I have come to enlightenment lies in the aphorism 'Follow the Money'. But if that's the case, I cry for our planet.

Throughout history, market forces have driven the adoption of new energy sources. Fossil fuels displaced wood, animal dung, whale oil and the like because they were cheaper, cleaner and safer, hence, consumers willingly embraced them. The fact that government subsidies and mandates are a central part of renewables should alarm people. It’s unfortunate that truth will come to people as the laws of physics, thermodynamics and economics cannot be repealed, it’s just going to be unnecessarily painful and expensive.
