Wasting water is nothing new. The ethanol subsidy has been around for decades and is a net environmental negative with regard to water (5 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of ethanol), and there is also the damage that the excess runoff from farming corn for fuel is causing to the Mississippi River basin and delta. Just another problem whose genesis is Washington, DC.
