The changing political fortunes of nuclear power are what happens when fantasy-based energy policy meets cold, hard thermodynamic reality in a country of 330 million with an aging grid that expects always-on power. Good to see that at least some leading politicians can do the math. But we still have a long way to go in educating the public.

The NRC bases its regulations on the disproven Linear No Threshold (LNT) hypothesis that alleges that even one photon can cause cancer, etc..

Please see radiationeffects.org , the website of Scientists for Accurate Radiation Information for an exhaustive bibliography on the safety of nuclear energy.

Also the books by Mike Conley and Tim Maloney, the most recent, Earth is a Nuclear Planet: The Environmental Case for Nuclear Power, available on Amazon for a very approachable explanation.
