Thanks Robert for your summary of the problems with California power rates. I attended both recent CPUC review hearings in Sacramento. Many political leaders criticized the extremely high power rates, as did other speakers from the dais, and many public commenters. This is an unsustainable problem. I will have more to say soon in my Substack GreenNUKE.

Since 2010, California ratepayers have paid tens of billions of dollars for the expansion of solar and wind, as shown in your Chart 1 via their rising power bills. Data from the U.S. EIA shows this is NOT significantly cutting the consumption of natural gas for California electricity generation, as you also indirectly show in Chart 2 .

A chart based on the U.S. EIA natural gas consumption data for California electricity generation is shown in CGNP's March 13, 2024 Comments to the CPUC https://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/PublishedDocs/Efile/G000/M527/K230/527230454.PDF

My sense is the CPUC appears indifferent in the face of criticism from many quarters.

I continue to appreciate your advocacy for energy sanity.
