Having worked for electric utilities for 30 years my advice to the consumer is this. Invest now in a reputable whole house backup generator, and pray that Biden doesn't screw up your natural gas supply. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

And nobody has done the maths on where the copper ore will come from in the timescale to make the copper to make all the wire. It is physically impossible to scale up mining operation to meet the supposed global demand for more grid infrastructure, particularly to connect myriad wind and solar installations higher and yon. As falls supply of copper increasingly falls behind demand, prices will soar and cost of increased grid infrastructure will be prohibitive.

Then there is the local infrastructure. An all electric energy supply will require significant upgrading and extension of local circuits and in buildings. Yet nowhere is the necessary work being undertaken or planned or priced. Nor is there any consideration where labour, manufacturing, construction, transportation and capital resources will come from. It’s all a fantasy - a dangerous and expensive one.
