In his first term, decades ago, Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown blocked San Diego Gas & Electric’s request to build a nuclear power plant, insisting a coal-fired one, together with buying oil-fired electricity from Mexico, would be better. What doesn’t get reported is that the Brown family, like the Gore family, has extensive fossil-fuel interests. Read Mike Shellenberger’s “Apocalypse Never.”

Robert - no deserves to focus more than you - pop on over to the Thorium Conference in Abilene on April 14th - I'll buy you a Tito's ( I know you are probably on the road - but it don't hurt to ask )

Robert: I am sad to see your podcast go on hiatus - it has taught me SO MUCH about energy, the people who keep our grid functioning, the factual and physical reality of the grid itself, the idiocies of renewables, and your valiant fight against wind . I am a STEM scientist (neuro, evo-devo) but know nothing of the realities of power except what I have learned from you. I will continue to follow you and see where you lead me. Bless you, and please make sure we can always find you.

Live in San Diego. Low income home owners have a 30% discounted electric bill. Middle income without solar are carrying the financial load. No benefits of having solar nor benefits granted to the low income households.

What apologies to doomberg? They didn’t patent the humorous call to action, and I doubt they would lay claim on it.

Thier plan to reduce emissions is. NOT. going. to. work.

Because that was never the real goal.

I dunno - sometimes I think they are just complete morons.

I've worked for a utility - and they sound just like the stupid people at public meetings. Just misunderstanding how the grid functions, who pays for what, etc. Screaming over huge utility profits that haven't changed since the 1960s. Thinking the utility decides any of this, and not the PUCs.

Allow me to be more clear. The LEADERS are malicious. The rank and file are exactly as you describe - useful fidiots (I'll bet you can work that one out...).

Here is how the cycle works. A REAL problem in the world (I'll use acid rain as an example) is uncovered. Government properly passes laws to limit the release of actual toxins into the air. The problem is solved, and all of the funding to those people who uncovered the REAL problem dries up. What to do? "Discover" another problem - one that can't be solved and which requires perpetual funding!!! It doesn't matter how much damage your "findings" cause to society, because you are concerned only with your own funding.

Demunists have generalized this principle, and today they skip directly past any "solvable problems" in research to focus on the unsolvable ones. Current example: Trillions being spent on dead-end wind and solar, while closed loop geothermal (which experts believe will become cheaper than natural gas) gets almost no funding and ZERO mentions in any major publication (just google "Eavor" - the closest I've seen to mention in a major publication was a specialty publication of Bloomberg, and a NYT fluff piece that backhandedly avoids talking about Eavor).

This tells me that real solutions are Kryptonite to these people...

I suppose to some degree it's ok - Eavor is going to succeed no matter what they do, and they have funding lined up for around 30 plants already. But it is truly irksome how fiscally reckless (also intentional - fiscal collapse works to the advantage of those seeking "revolution!") they are in the meantime.

I'd also not - energy costs underlying everything. People are not getting poor in California because their electric bills went up - the rise in electrical costs caused EVERYHTING to go up in price.

Excess solar power generated at residences and sold to the grid has virtually zero value. Most utilities would rather not have to buy it at all.

Thank you, yet again, for explaining so succinctly the damaging effects of the mindless rush to “net zero.” It is imperative that your work be spread far and wide so that voters across the country can understand the devastating impacts of the naive, destructive, and unworkable policies which are purportedly designed to prevent “climate change,” but are, at their essence, designed to destroy western civilization.

How much are pple paying in California after taxes? How much is 15.1 C / kWh with taxes and other charges?

If our hours of work buy less non-discretionary goods and services, we're getting poorer.

This economy is structured in such a way where the rich are getting richer. The elites, say the economy is great, Wall Street is way up! Those living paycheck to paycheck are getting poorer, and are falling behind in utility payments, etc. Green energy is killing the middle class.

In Brisbane Australia, we pay $0.32c kWh plus $1.34 per day “supply charge”…

Thank you Robert. Taking a pause on the podcast is completely understandable because there is only so much one can do. And thank you for doing that podcast over the years., It’s been a favorite and one of the very best podcasts out there and the #1 must listen to in the energy space.

Last month (in Oakland) I paid .45/kwh and .49 peak. It's getting darn close to the point where I can run a diesel generator for less. Maybe I can get myself a little steam engine and power my home with coal.

My Water Bill in Chattanooga TN runs $20 a month. Nuclear plant provides constant electricity at a low price, and they store water in a mountain reservoir they release thru the hydroelectric dam on the Tennessee River when demand increases!

Your April bill will be a bit lower, on average, as you will be getting the bi-annual climate credit from PG&E. Your time of use rate schedule (E-TOU-B) per kWh costs went up on March 1st. Unfortunately, you will not get a climate credit in May. It's a good thing you don't need much air conditioning in Oakland as your summer rates are going to be a lot more:

Your peak time rate will go up to 60 cents a kWh at peak!

Your off-peak rate is going to be 48 cents a kWh.

The table linked below notes all of the rate schedules for PG&E's residential customers-

The entire house of cards in regards to the race to net zero using parasitical/unreliable solar and wind comes from that wrong view of CO2 causing a linear warming in the troposphere. Crazy doesn't come close. But that's cults and the madness of crowds for you.
